Hockey Unfiltered Recap

This past weekend on Hockey Unfiltered with Todd Lewis the latest twist in stupidity known as the process toward a new CBA agreement between the NHL and Players Association was secondary in our thoughts as we all absorbed the facts coming out of Newtown, CT.

While we’re all still dealing with this tragedy our group did it’s best to try and provide a distraction from the horror.

Our expert negotiator, who we’ve had on speed dial since this process began, Alicia Jessop gave an excellent account of the law and how it operates with regard to the NHLPA Disclaimer of interest vote, the NHL filing a lawsuit and unfair Labor practice notice.  Alicia also outlined why the filings take place in the US, do states with right to work legislation have an impact and also a few other important points as the legal process moves on.

Eric Duhatschuk from the Globe & Mail gave an excellent account of why the so called mid-January deadline for a deal really isn’t logical and had some great thoughts on the upcoming World Junior Tournament.

And as usual our feedback was stellar!  Loving the interaction via twitter @toddlewissports and @hockeyunfilterd are the ways to reach us and yes we do respond back.

There is a blog I posted to the website offering a suggestion that maybe the league needs a little competition to get a deal done.  My suggestion was essentially via embarrassment.  If these two groups can’t make a deal before the US Government reaches an agreement on the US Fiscal Cliff then perhaps we’re in real trouble.  You can read it here.

If you missed any of the segments mentioned above or want to check out others, simply go to and listen.

Looking forward to being back again next Saturday & Sunday beginning at Noon Eastern.
