Hockey Unfiltered with Todd Lewis continues to generate great feedback on the biggest NHL stories and has some fun doing it.
Sunday we were all over the enormously popular game between the Montreal Canadiens & Pittsburgh Penguins from the night before. I know coaches hated it because of the defensive mistakes, but a 7-6 overtime game with Sidney Crosby scoring the winner was exciting to watch. And often the NHL and others forget, you’re in the entertainment business, so what’s wrong with entertaining your fans.
Randy Sportak joined us to talk about the Calgary Flames saga over the past week and came up with the best description of the entire Ryan O’Reilly offer sheet story; it was like a Seinfeld episode, sums it up perfectly.
We also got some excellent fantasy suggestions from Neil Greenberg of the Washington Post & ESPN.com and looked at a very interesting idea proposed by Larry Brooks of the NY Post for a 70 game NHL season. I don’t think it will ever happen of course, too much greed on by both players and owners. You can check out the idea here. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/more_sports/cut_nhl_sked_to_games_BkzWHvtTgfhPdXnsX2QvFI
And Sunday featured all 80’s new wave music and proved to be a very popular choice with too many requests to play. Something tells me we’ll have to bring back the 80’s again soon.
